James Martin Driskill replied to a comment on a post from July 13.

So I have this friend who I have known since I was in junior high and is also still a Facebook friend of mine today James Driskill. He's openly Gay, liberal and highly intelligent. He was a mentor to me in technology when I was a young aspiring computer programmer. He worked in the library system in San Bernardino California and I practically lived at each of the five branches they had at that time, signing up for computer access. Every day after school, until my time expired by someone else needing to use a computer booted me off, I would then hop onto the city bus to the next branch, until it closed and even sometimes sneaked in to the local community college after hours, to use those machines until school started the next day.

Anyway my friend had a boyfriend who died of AIDs years back, He now has AIDS and is a shadow of the person he used to be, homeless (with a car right now) and being technologically savvy, ranting all over Facebook every chance he gets about how the world has done him wrong. I have several friends with parents who have come out as gay who have later died of AIDs and currently have friends who are gay some of which still haven't come out but most have. Just for the record I am not gay. I have observed the lifestyle for myself for years and have NEVER personally seen a gay relationship last, or any part of it end in anything other than tragic. I don't hate people for being gay. I am concerned for them thinking that it is, what it is not. Love. Heterosexual (straight) activity is not love either. Love requires no physical or sexual contact what so ever. I am anti gay because of my personal experience through people I have known through out my entire life who are my friends. I have known people who have changed from being gay to straight, and vice versa, and find it to be more choice than matter of fact as some claim it is. Just as some have started bad habits like smoking and drinking, that some later overcome, I feel a desire to help those to change a homosexual lifestyle as well, be encouraging them to see with their eyes the reality of the lifestyle. Look for examples of lasting relationships that they know personally, not just those that seem good on TV or in movies because we all know that media is not what it seems, but we allow media to shape our personal lives too much.

I see no reason to be proud of being gay. To me it's like being proud of being a smoker, or an alcoholic, or a foul mouthed free speech American. I'm proud to be a American, but i'm more proud to be Conservative American. Conservative in speech, dress, and thought. Some may claim to be conservative, but they speak more liberally than a Hollywood porn star!. Sure you are free to do dumb things in a free country, but it is not always the smartest or healthiest, or at a minimum, best example to our youth. Far too many people don't speak up about things to help others become better, citing it's none of their business, but it's everyone business. I don't advocate hate against smokers, alcoholics, foul mouthed, or gay people. I don't believe any of those things deserve a special day of celebration, or congratulatory call from the president for coming out or anything either.

I do think that traditional values should be celebrated. How about a HETERO-Pride-Day?

Are you ALIVE today because you were born?
Thank a Heterosexual!

I say these things because we are all children of God and I care about all of you. God bless you all.

Michael Marlow Lets break out the shock therapy for the gays! That will teach them!
Manage
Jimmy Escajeda That sounds like hate, or in-sighting hate to me just a little bit.
Manage
Michael Marlow You seem less concerned with how others view "love" and the need to teach others how to do so. Because we can break this down pretty simple Jimmy, why is it you get in a relationship (on average)? Most would say because you have FEELINGS for someone. Often the feeling they are refering to is love. So, if that is the case you are saying you want to teach people not to have the feeling of love they have. Prettyyyyyy gross.
Manage
Jimmy Escajeda For many love is a relative thing, though in reality love is not. Many misunderstand love, and THINK they now what it is when they do not.
Manage
Joshua L Fillers Explain to us then Jimmy, exactly what is love in your own words?
Manage
Jimmy Escajeda In a few words love is the opposite of selfishness.
Manage
Michael Marlow Josh, gays are selfish, you see? They don't believe in God or reproduction or the sun. I think they are probably all flat eathers, too!
Manage
Joshua L Fillers No. I want your definition of love. Not what you say it isnt.
Manage
Jimmy Escajeda I never said anyone was selfish. I said that homo AND Heterosexual activity is NOT love.
Manage
Joshua L Fillers Are you saying it is impossible for same sex individuals to love one another the same as a man and woman?
Manage
Jimmy Escajeda No I am saying SEX has NOTHING to do with love.
Manage
Jimmy Escajeda I love both of you and don't have sex with you right?
Manage
Joshua L Fillers Ill agree with that. I still want to know what that has to do with being gay.
Manage
Jimmy Escajeda Many gay people site Love as their reason they are gay.
Manage
Joshua L Fillers I guess the first time you realize you love someone of the same sex it would be a pretty good indicator that your gay. However, you still havent answered either of my questions. What is your definition of love. And are you saying a same sex couple cannot love one another the same as an opposite sex couple?
Manage
Joshua L Fillers In my experience, no gay person i have ever met cited love. Most have said they dont know why, they just are.
Manage
Jimmy Escajeda READ THE WORDS THAT I AM TYPING! LOVE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH SEX OF HETERO OR HOMOSEXUAL NATURE!

ALL sex has NOTHING to do with love. I love a homosexual man: James Driskill who I mentioned earlier and I am not gay, but if I were, I'd still love him
even if I never had sex with him! So where in this have I said that gay or straight people cannot love people the same as anybody? or realizing you love anyone the same sex makes you gay?
Manage
Jimmy Escajeda No heterosexual wants to stop love, but I hear them say you can't stop love! In an attempt to falsely claim the high ground.
Manage
Michael Marlow As smart as you are, you are incredibly dense. You literally danced around questions that were asked and made some new point that is just as meaningless as the others. Can a same sex couple love each other the same as an opposite sex couple? Answer that question. Then once you have answered that question, what is your definition of love?
Manage
Michael Marlow At this point I am super interested in your stupidity and enjoying the fact that people can see what I have posted here and see what you have posted. I have already had an outside discussion about how absurd your notions are.
Manage
Johni England Michael Marlow are you attracted to the same sex?
Manage
Michael Marlow How is this question relevant? Tell me your social security number and mothers maiden name! Oh, it doesn't touch on the topic at all? Ah, I see. You are a good ol' fashioned Christian and don't believe in evolution or anything that can simply be proven with facts.

Furthermore, you have yet to grasp the concept that evolution and God can exist in the same realm and understand that the Bible is very old and many things do not apply as they do now. If you understand that things don't apply as they did then to now, you might then understand that world views could have shaped the Bible.

But let us go further into the rabbit hole, shall we? How is someone born with both sets of genitalia? You know about the existence of this, I assume. What of this person, who is literally both sexes at the same time? Scary thought huh? How does God judge this person? "Well Michelle, your parents named you a girls name so you really did wrong by loving other girls!" Yes at this point I am mocking because you asked such an absurd question, so I thought I would deliver some relevant points and a little bit of dirt in your face for sharing such a toxic thought process.

Michael Marlow Ah, we are the stupid ones. I got it. Only CHRISTIANS can understand love. Good selling point! No wonder religion is the cause of so much war. I'm happy the God I believe in has faith in humanity. I'm glad the God I believe in embraces love. I'm glad the God I believe in is understanding to the naive body he allowed me to inhabit. You seem to have an idea of "love" but kind of are exclusive. Alienating people is not a good teaching tool. "Hey, you are wrong about this and I am obviously right! So you should totally listen to me and everything I say. Because I am right. You're an alcoholic.... or gay. That's the one."
Manage
Jimmy Escajeda You are indeed the master of putting words into my mouth which I never said.

Manage
Michael Marlow Ah, I assumed. All religions seem to have this thing with the gays and them being bad and what not. My bad. I tried to condense your long winded babble into something and misplaced you I guess.
Manage
Jimmy Escajeda I understand. All religions have parts of light none have it all. God likes it when men seek truth and discover more light. This is one reason he doesn't give it to us on a silver platter. Only the most basic and necessary light that we can then start a journey towards gathering. It really is the most perfect way of going about it I have found. Many become discouraged because the journey is difficult, and they want everything explained on a silver platter but that is not God's way for a multitude of reasons.
Manage
Jimmy Escajeda We must seek so that we may find, knock so that he can answer, and then ask so we can receive We must not be stagnant seeking within the knowledge of only one or a few faiths, but try or test the spirits of all faiths in a constant search for greater truth.
Manage
Joshua L Fillers Jimmy Escajeda Ok, first off, the "you cant stop love" chant came from them wanting equal marital rights. It has nothing to do with this imaginary high ground. They just want to marry the person they are in love with. So even bringing that up was slightly ridiculous.

To your comment after that. I asked for your definition of love and, kind of got it there. Love, in your opinion, is giving yourself to another (person, deity, etc.) To this point, you are stating an opinion as fact. My definition of love is different from yours. Love is an intense and deep feeling of admiration or adoration. You can't tell people they don't know what love is. That's an asinine way to go about life and a good way to come off as a condescending "holier then thou" bigot. Not saying thats what you are, but that is how you are appearing here.

Simply put, you cannot make an opinion true or false to anyone other then yourself. So telling us we don't know the true meaning of love is just, for lack of a better word, stupid.

One could also argue that those of us who cling to this "mortal gradient" of love instead of searching for a higher level of love in an afterlife we cannot KNOW exists are experiencing a higher level of love by fully embracing what we have instead of searching or preparing for a "greater" love later. Live for the moment if you will.

As for marlow's comment about us being the stupid ones. I wouldn't completely call him incorrect. I tried reading that as you would have said it, and it came off pretty condescending.

Lastly, for someone who has told me a multitude of times, that we cannot understand God's plan you seem to be assuming you know a lot of his way of thinking. How do you know how god wanted us to find truth? Your making assumptions that directly contradict your own philosophy of god's plan and how we as mortals cannot comprehend it, while you sit here and attempt to explain a variation of it. (the concept of love)

Joshua L Fillers David, as I contemplated a bit more on this subject. (and spoke to my wife who thinks on an IQ level a few hundred times higher then mine!!) I need to ask.

If God decided, based on his vision from beginning to end that the "innocent" will prove corrup
t. And decided to flood the earth and, basically start over, sparing only Noah (a drunk) and his incestuous children, to stop this corruption. Why did he, during WW2 when your parents were growing up, not just... kill hitler... to stop all that death and destruction?
Manage
Joshua L Fillers There are hundreds of similar examples I could use. Why this instance in the story of Noah? Why is there still corruption? Why are things still so terrible?

These are the questions that drive me from christianity. If god sees all, why allow a rapist t
o be born? Said rapist could have such a traumatic effect on a woman that she then takes her own life. (barring her from heaven according to most denominations when god could have saved her soul by never allowing said rapists mother to become pregnant.

Manage
David Lehrman Valid questions you propose such as rapists etc. in the creation there was nothing like this or in the garden of Eden in particular it wasn't till disobedience (sin) came in that these things happen. God could've wiped out Satan in an instant although had He done that The question would remain throughout eternity was Satan right? Saten drew 1/3 of God's angels to his side so unfortunately we are in this mess and one may often ask where is the love of God, I can't fully explain and or understand this whole controversy were in but I try and trust God nonetheless in the end it will be all about the vindication of God that God is truth and Satan is a liar then there will be no questions throughout eternity. We can look at the mess Joseph was in and see his attitude in Genesis 50: 20 and Job said though He slay me yet will I trust in Him
Consider Romans 8:28, if you want to read a book that couldn't fully explain this read the great controversy between Christ and Satan, it's a long read but you'll come back educated I believe in the whole theme. Link below to read it online, it is a long read but in the theme of eternity very short. From the author: "The student should learn to view the word as a whole, and to see the relation of its parts. He should gain a knowledge of its grand central theme, of God's original purpose for the world, of the rise of the great controversy, and of the work of redemption. He should understand the nature of the two principles that are contending for supremacy, and should learn to trace their working through the records of history and prophecy, to the great consummation. He should see how this controversy enters into every phase of human experience; how in every act of life he himself reveals the one or the other of the two antagonistic motives; and how, whether he will or not, he is even now deciding upon which side of the controversy he will be found.” – E. Christian Gold Homosexuality is a refusal to follow the biological imperitave: Survive and Reproduce. All life on earth tries to follows this mantra. It is wired into every instinct of every plant and animal on the planet. Every single observable attribute of every single form of life can be traced back to the biological imperitave. There were no doubt traits and attributes that plants and animals exhibited in the past that did not further the biological imperitave, but those traits have been lost to time because the creatures who exhibited those traits failed to pass those traits on, and therefore, removed themselves from the gene pool. My question to those defending Homosexuality is this: how can a trait so fundamentally opposed to the biological imperitave survive?
Manage
Michael Marlow Actually, if you really knew your science, you would know there are still instances (like right now!) of homosexuality in the wild! Crazy huh? It is almost like, maybe, it isn't just purely choice. Not really much doubt there huh. You probably shouldn't use science to defend your argument when science proves you are wrong.
Manage
Christian Gold Observable homosexuality in the animal kingdom is actually hypersexuality (screwing anything that moves). Most animals do not mate for life or for long periods as humans do, so when homosexuality is observed in the animal kingdom we tend to humanize the behavior instead of explaining it in simpler, more logical terms.
Manage
Michael Marlow This just isn't quite true. They say you can believe things into existence. Sorry, won't work here.

Michael Marlow I guess the problem will be, you are opposed to this idea. So why the hell would you want to believe in something that opposes what you think!? The real life problem, learning to believe things you don't already believe and learning to actively evolve your character, knowledge, and understanding of your daily life on this planet. See, I must admit to not being a super cool scientist and having all the facts straight up for myself. It is quite unfortunate when I come upon a situation like today when someone things they can teach homosexuals to be something else. To be something they are fundamentally not. To be something they don't need to be. Stop treating them as a disease or as Jimmy did, comparing them to alcoholics. It is disgusting.

Christian Gold If it is genetic, it will not be genetic for long, as homosexuals will self select themselves out of the gene pool.
Manage
Michael Marlow How long have humans been on the planet? Jeez, it has been a while. If what the Bible said is true, there is documentation of homosexuality going waaaaaaaaaaaay back. Interesting, isn't it? Unless you mean WAYYYYY down the road being selected out of the gene pool, then maybe.

Travis Anderson Michael Marlow I inquired about the study of homosexual animals and what I found was that many different authors referenced a specific series of studies done by a specific individual. I researched that professor and found out that he was actively homosexual. Not saying that excludes his ability to be unbiased, but I was unable to verify his research through separate sources.
Manage
Michael Marlow Sure! I as I said in my other post science can be imperfect. Also, as I stated, you should make sure to inform yourself of all the studies when having an opinion that involves something of this magnitude. Kind of like when electing a public official. You shouldn't just vote someone just because they are one party or another. What if that person was a maniac! Information is good!
Manage
Travis Anderson Michael Marlow exactly but can you explain why there is no research or studies into "curing" the homosexual gene?
Manage
Travis Anderson Michael Marlow put it this way, of homosexuality is genetic... where did that gene come from?

According to evolution theory: the gene that does not promote survival of the species would be eliminated.

If homosexuals do not reproduce that "gene" would end with them.

If that gene is truly a gene then why do we not see it as a mutation similar to autism?
Manage
Christian Gold If people understood that failure to reproduce is biologically identical to death, there might be more of a push to treat it as something worthy of research, but alas, we live in a culture of death where abortion is encouraged, children are considered a burden, and humans are thought of as a plague.

Travis Anderson "Love" is a chemical reaction occurring when we feel a strong sense of attraction.
Manage
Jonathan Hartsock You can feel attraction without love though.
Manage
Travis Anderson Jonathan Hartsock Endorphins are excited when you are attracted to something, this occurs as a chemical reaction... I have not seen the research that shows humans being attracted to something without the anticipation or release of endorphins. I am not speaking about your perception of love rather that the chemical reaction that occurs when we are attracted.
For instance, when you see your pets endorphins are released and (if you have a significant other) when you see them that same endorphin is released (there is no "other" endorphin).
Manage
Jonathan Hartsock A chemical reaction that occurs with arousal among other things. Meaning your argument is essentially love doesnt exist but arousal and the pursuit of an endorphin high do. Correct?
Manage
Jonathan Hartsock Love is not a chemical. A child could tell you that. So in a way you might as well say potato in this conversation and it would hold a simular level of revelation... Love has variables such as endorphins involved yes, but your take fails to explain when one acts against their own interests when experiencing love (in particular when acting on behalf of someone else's interest). Unless you sum it up to being no different than a junkie willing to do anything for their next fix. (Which can explain many relationships, but not all.)
Manage
Jonathan Hartsock Heaven forbid your chemical focus on the definition of love being simply your perception of love. You thought claiming an aspect of biology would transcend you out of that aye? No, you're applying tunnel vision to the topic and trying to hold up your perception as more than that. I see you.
Manage
Jonathan Hartsock And I feel you addressed the topic better in replying to other comments so.... thoughts on the matter are relative to audience?
Manage
Travis Anderson Jonathan Hartsock It's hard to have a conversation with an individual that is unable to differentiate between a scientifically proved occurrence and a sociological or psychological perspective of that occurrence.

When you speak/think from a posit
ion of perspective that perspective is biased based upon your individual experience, which means that it's coming from a sociological or psychological emotion.

Studies of the brain only determine what is "occurring" at the time of that stimulus.

Heterosexual men have shown same stimuli when viewing videos of gay and hetero sex: which means that a chemical reaction is taking place; however, this does not delineate "proof" of homosexuality in hetero males; it only reveals a reaction.

"Love is a loosely defined term which has an infinite spectrum of a chemical reaction" does not negate your "feelings". It actually supports why people do what they do or love what/who they love.

Adversely, having an understanding that "love" is not narrowly defined is in opposition any comment of "tunnel vision" because by definition one must have abstract thought to analyze all the moving parts of human emotion and not a linear perspective

If you want we can use Greek to define love or Romantic period English literature, but that doesn't change the definitive meaning of love.

Christian Gold "Love" is an evolutionary response designed to create bonding between mating pairs in order to encourage sexual reproduction.
Manage
Travis Anderson The Greeks had 4 words that defined love to help differentiate these emotions. When Jesus asked Peter "do you love me" 3 times in the Greek he was asking if Peter loved him unconditionally. And Peter was saying NOT unconditionally but that he "loved" Jesus like as a friend. Finally the third time Peter said yes I "aggape" you unconditionally.

Jesus was not homosexual but was asking for the unconditional "love" of a man.

The Greeks have a separate word that means a sexual "love". This is what the Greeks used to express sexual feelings towards each other,

so even the Greeks knew to differentiate sexual "love" from strong attraction or loyalty.
Manage
Sarah L Jeppson Jimmy, I think this was well said. Heavenly Father put us here to reproduce, and to love one another. Thanks.
Manage
Tim Keck Wow i am 100% amused by this. Love can be felt by any two people. Love is a feeling. Attraction and lust are physical.
Manage
Tim Keck We as people confuse love with these things and there is no homo or hetero in love..... i can love a man and i am 100% hetero
Manage
Travis Anderson Correct but the inefficiencies of the English language leaves you with only one word to define an infinite spectrum.

Do you have pets that you love? Do you have a sports team you love? How about children... do you love children? Did you love somethi
ng that you accomplished? Have you ever loved a song or piece of art?

The definition of love is infinite when only one word can describe an infinite spectrum.

When we incorporate action to our love we excite other aspects of our brain which releases endorphins.

Drug addicts love
Drugs; alcoholics love alcohol; aberrant behavior is also included in this same chemical reaction.

People don't become drug addicts when they have never done drugs... they only "love" drugs when they participate with that activity.

When we indulge in aberrant behavior how do we resolve that behavior... and who decides what behavior is aberrant or natural?
Manage
Jimmy Escajeda Travis Anderson perhaps it isn't so much the lack of spectrum than an improper use of the word love when other words are better used such as like, enjoy, lust, or attracted, enamored etc.
Manage
Logan Elias Arnold Jimmy Escajeda I agree that "love" is a very misused word. Love is something used to identify a bond, only breakable by utter betrayal, and even then resistant. Family, significant other, best friend, or even your pet. You can love these things. You don't love food or love a game. People just don't pay enough attention in school to be honest. I paid attention, and I know how the english language works on a freshman college level without ever studying for it once. Love is not a general word. That's simply how people misuse it. It describes a feeling that is incomparable to anything else.

Aspen Osborne I respect your opinion but I do want to point out a few things. I actually have *personaly* seen a long term homosexual relationship that has lasted 15 years at least and that's just since I was old enough to understand so probably longer I never thought to ask exactly how long. That being said how many successful happy long term heterosexual relationships have you seen? Other than those couples in Hollywood shows since you know romance is a huge industry dominated by mostly heterosexuals. I can honestly say I have only seen a few myself and I have to wonder if those were truly happy or if they are together because they were afraid to divorce because of the stigma that comes with religious people divorcing. On top of that of course think back to the time these long term heterosexual relationships started the 60s, 70s, 80s maybe earlier?? Of course we don't have examples of long term successful homosexual relationships from then! Could you imagine a homosexual coming out at that time!! They would have been totally shunned and who knows what else and those in a long term from then probably don't flaunt it because they grew up in a Time that it was totally taboo.
Talking about aids heterosexuals get stds as well generally from either being sexually promiscuous or sleeping with someone who is or has been. The difference is heterosexuals have the extra incentive to where a condom because of the risk of becoming pregnant where homosexuals do not have that worry. This could obviously be remedied. And if they are constantly killing them selves out in nature what do you think is the reason it continues to resurface?(hypothetically)
This of course Segways us into speaking of the comandment to reproduce. No they can not physically reproduce but again this also can refer to those heterosexuals who are born with infertility or struggling with it. Does that mean because they cannot reproduce they also should live a life of celibacy as many in the church tell homosexuals to live?? That because their sexual life brings nothing to fruition they should no longer have one? Of course not. They have the option of adopting or using surrogacy and still the honor of having everyone else's blessing on their relationship or family no matter how created. And there are so many children born to heterosexual parents who are not good parents who physically sexually and mentally abuse them. But again at least they have a mother AND father right? I'm sorry but homosexuals can be just as good(if not sometimes better) parents as heterosexuals. Sexuality(generally) has nothing to do with how good of a parent you can be. And I will say if God forbid something we're to happen to my husband and I wouldn't care if My son was taken care of by a mom and a mom or a dad and a dad or a mom and a dad or a black mom and white dad or white mom and black dad. None of theses things matter to me. What matters to me is that he is loved, cherished, protected and provided for in the way he deserves.
As far as love goes to be in a committed relationship it generally helps if you are sexually attracted to that person. Ask any therapist and they will tell you physical intimacy is a part of any relationship and can bring people together or cause problems whether you are homo or hetero. Either way the key to creating a strong long lasting marriage is by choosing who love and choosing everyday to love who you choose no matter what. Just wait until a decade or so and I'm sure we will have plenty of heterosexuals and homosexual examples. Just my two cents 🙃

Jonathan Hartsock "I'm not say HE does but he does have a history of introducing changes through our Modern day prophets as people become ready for them or as people change such as with polygamy or African Americans finally being allowed to hold the priesthood."

You referenced early church history. Are you not mormon anymore?
Manage
Johnny Osborne Early church history is neither referencing the Bible or doctrine just a changing in church policy and practice. I also don't see how the question of being a Mormon is relevant? Mormons are still entitled to their own opinions as well as being encouraged to have personal Revelation.
Manage
Jonathan Hartsock There are simple principles that will remain in harmony if the revelation is authentic. What I said is completely relevent in the context of thinking church policy will alter itself, and I said IF you are going to use the bible as a reference it will not support you, not saying you actively did, but aspen did hint the idea that God will alter his laws based on vague references to early church history (which I'm guessing you dont know alot about, which is fine), which pressed me to point that out as incorrect and not in harmony with the gospel. MEANING your claims and thoughts are your own in this manner, and the Lord will not support you in them as you hinted to hope. It is in this fingers crossed hoping I was pressed to state a simple truth in the context of doctrines of the gospel of Jesus Christ. So it is appropriate for me to reference the Bible here and show that you dismiss it by having this opinion and can no means claim divine providence in harboring it. That is in the context of the gospel. Outside of it obviously thats different. But do not attempt to speak falsely of what the Lord MIGHT do when he has already made clear these things. Especially in the conext concerning those people who have sought to uphold the abrahamic covenant and be of the house of Israel. The relevence of "Are you still mormon?" can summarized as this... Are you actively upholding covenants made under the abrahamic covenant? If the answer is yes, you are in error in this thing. If the answer is no, than any discipline and knowledge associated with it is not applicable. These commandments are directly revelent if you have made covenants under the abrahamic covenant as are the consequences of keeping and breaking those covenants. Aspen stepped up and stated an opinion which leaned in part on some gospel implications. Now I am denying any grey areas in the context of the gospel. Because they are not there, and the disciplines and behavior the Lord requires of those under covenant do not change and neither does God alter like people do as Johni England pointed out.
Manage
Jonathan Hartsock Let me clarify that I am not disputing opinions of people of the world nor am I saying they should not have an opinion, I welcome it actually. However I will speak up directly and at times boldly where the Gospel of Jesus Christ and its standards are concerned, which can also be stated as the conditions and disciplines associated with covenants made with God under the Abrahamic Covenant.

Now I know for myself some of the blessings that come from heeding the Lord's commandments and would encourage the whole world to enter in His way and partake in those blessings. But I will not cry discipline to those who refuse, nor will I say wisdom to those without an ear for it. But I will say to those whom have made covenants with the Lord I too have made myself... remember your covenants.
Manage
Aspen Osborne Please enlighten me on which covenant I'm breaking in this? I don't remember entering into a covenant that said I must believe and testify of everything taught and said? In fact I believe we are taught to use to spirit to gain our own testimony in the things we are told. President Russell M Nelson just recently said this in a BYU Devotional "My dear brothers and sisters, you have as much access to the mind and will of the Lord for your own life as we Apostles do for His Church. Just as the Lord requires us to seek and ponder, fast and pray, and study and wrestle with difficult questions, He requires you to do the same as you seek answers to your own questions." I have done this and the answer I received was to follow the covenant that gave me the blessing of the spirit in the first place. To follow the example of Jesus. To love and serve others. To have compassion. And to mourn with those who mourn and comfort those who stand in need of comfort. My job is not to judge mine is only to love. And I will not condemn others for loving who they love simple as that. I do not see that as breaking a commandment I do not see standing up for those who just want the right to make their own decisions. Even if you do believe they are "sinning" which I personally do not Free agency was such a sacred principle that the Lord cast out his own beloved son and a third of the hosts of heaven to protect it! Who am I to condemn them for using that agency. I am using my own mind and the power of the spirit to discern truths to my questions. This is what I've received. And this is not breaking the covenants I take and renew each Sunday.

Jimmy Escajeda there is a thought process that is very different between liberals and conservatives. I feel quite the opposite. and I also feel quite proud of those who stepped up to voice their opinion on both sides. I see it very cowardly to allow the mudslide of immorality to go unchecked, for it is by complacency that evil prevails. There are those that feel it a duty to inform others for the good of all involved, and there are those that are afraid to voice their opinions because their self image is built upon how many friends agree with them or how many likes they have on Facebook or things that are variable rather than a firm foundation in principle that does not sway with every wind of popular belief. I am no yes man. My life is built upon a firm foundation and the ultimate example of Christ. Sometimes the truth hurts. Life is not all we want, or what people want. There is logic behind the core values that I hold. I don't blindly follow ideologies for fear of punishment or in hopes of great reward. There is truth and purpose in what I stand for and also the advice that I give others. It is out of love and hope for their own good that I have posted what I have posted and will continue to post. I will never force anyone or endorse any other to do so, as there is never anything that anyone should ever be ashamed of communicating in any way, so long as that only through dialog and not force does the act of persuading views is used to change minds. I AM ashamed of those who use or endorse others use of force or mandates to bring about change. For that is the modus operandi of evil itself.
